Does This Smoothie Really Taste Like Brownie Batter?
Everyone has different taste buds…so you may not feel the same about the taste as the next person.
Have you ever licked a spoon after making brownies?
That, my friend, is what this smoothie tastes like!
To be even more convincing, my 10 year old took a sip of the brownie batter smoothie and said it really does taste like yummy batter!
You Put Avocado In Your Brownie Batter Smoothie?
Avocados are an important part of this smoothie, believe it or not!
Your ripe avocado adds creaminess and an almost pudding-like texture to your chocolate smoothie!

Avocados Have Numerous Health Benefits
This amazing little fruit called the avocado contains up to twenty different nutrients, vitamins and minerals.
It is told that the avocado is called an “alligator pear” because of its green pear-shape, and its bumpy alligator-type skin.
Another important factor to note is the avocado is rich in fiber. Fiber can assist in weight loss and metabolic health.
Did you know that eating avocados can also improve your eye health…plus decrease the risk of cataracts? Avocados contain something called lutein.
According to webMD, “Lutein is a type of vitamin called a carotenoid. It is related to beta-carotene and vitamin A. Foods rich in lutein include egg yolks, broccoli, spinach, kale, corn, orange pepper, kiwi fruit, grapes, orange juice, zucchini, and squash. Lutein is absorbed best when it is taken with a high-fat meal.
Many people think of lutein as “the eye vitamin.” It is thought to function as a light filter, protecting the eye tissues from sunlight damage.
As you can see, there are so many benefits you gain by eating this tasty green gem!

What If I Don’t Care For Avocados?
Because of all the healthy nutrition and great benefits you can receive from this fruit, you may want to incorporate them in your diet.
You may say “I don’t like to eat plain avocados”. I get it! I didn’t care to eat them for a long time!
Adding them to smoothies like this brownie batter recipe is a great way to hide the flavor…which is pretty mild anyhow.
If you or a family member still struggle to eat avocados, here are a few simple ideas to help hide avocado in your food.
- Add them to smoothies
- Make popsicles
- Bake up chocolate muffins
- Use mashed avocado in place of mayonnaise in egg salad
- (if you’re brave) Stuff your avocado with taco meat and fixings
- Add them to Loaded Chicken Salad (you’ll hardly notice them)

Fresh Or Frozen Avocado
When it comes to making a cold, delicious smoothie, frozen fruit is usually suggested.
The fact is, using frozen fruit will take the place of ice. You won’t need much ice, if any, when using frozen fruit.
I recently used frozen avocado in a smoothie and found that it still gave my smoothie the creamy texture that I love!
So, when it comes down to it, you can use fresh or frozen avocado in your smoothies. If you use fresh, you will need to add some crushed ice to make it cold!

How To Make A Dairy-Free Smoothie
Whether its the brownie batter smoothie or another smoothie, you can find a way to make it dairy-free if needed.
Using cashew milk or almond milk are great dairy-free options.
Omitting the heavy cream is totally fine. Depending on what sort of smoothie you are making, it may not turn out as creamy, but still tasty.

What Cocoa Should I Use For The Best Brownie-Flavored Smoothie?
The truth is you can use your favorite cocoa powder for this smoothie.
I chose to use Cacao powder because it has a richer flavor and enhances the chocolate taste in desserts or drinks.
Can I Replace A Meal With This Smoothie?
Absolutely! It is recommended to have enough protein with your meal to keep you full for 2-3 hours.
If you do not add collagen, you could replace it with a scoop of protein powder.
If you decide to not add protein powder or collagen, you could eat a couple hard boiled egg whites along side for a nice lunch!

Chocolate Brownies
It’s understandable that not everyone enjoys drinking smoothies!
If you need a brownie fix, but don’t want to make a smoothie, these double chocolate brownies will do the trick!
Or maybe you would rather have some easy chocolate fudge?
Either way, you will get your chocolate craving satisfied! There’s never a wrong time for chocolate.
Making Smoothies Ahead Of Time
For those of you who are on the go most days, you could make a smoothie the night before and just give it a quick shake right before you head out the door!
If you are making a fruit smoothie, a great tip would be to add your greens and fruit to several freezer bags for simple make-ahead fruit smoothies!
The next day, or whenever you are ready to make it, add your liquids and frozen fruit to a blender and whiz it up.
Best Blender For Smoothies
When it comes to blenders, I admit that there is a bit of favoritism on my part.
I used a cheaper blender for 9-10 years until I received my favorite Christmas gift of all time…the Blendtec blender!
It is worth noting that smoothies can be blended in a cheap blender…they really can.
There may be issues getting an incredibly smooth texture with a cheaper blender. For year I had no idea how smooth a smoothie could be until I received my high powered blender.
They are not cheap by any means, but I highly recommend investing in a high powered blender…especially if you plan on using one several times a week.
The Blendtec is so worth the investment! A refurbished blender is just as amazing and cheaper. They last and last, and their customer service is out of this world.
The blender I own and recommend is the Blendtec Total Classic Wildside Jar blender.
If you are not quite ready to make the investment, the Nutribullet is another great option. It is wonderful for making single-serve shakes!
No Special Ingredients Needed For This Smoothie
If you know anything about Trim Healthy Mama recipes, you know that many of them (especially desserts) call for special ingredients.
Special ingredients are basically ingredients that you cannot find very easily at your local grocery stores.
You’re in luck with this brownie batter smoothie! It would be referred to as a NSI recipe (no special ingredient). You can buy everything at Walmart or most any grocery store.
If you are using collagen in this smoothie, you can generally find it in health food stores.
It always makes me happy when I can make a yummy recipe with ingredients that are easy to find pretty much anywhere!
