Why Are They Called “Deviled” Eggs?

Have you ever wondered why they are called “deviled eggs”?

Some say that in cooking, the word “devil” means to chop up food very finely and add spicy sauce or seasonings.

In ancient Rome, eggs were boiled, seasoned with spicy sauces, and then served at the beginning of meals.

This is supposedly where the name “deviled eggs” began.

Many people don’t like the term “deviled” for obvious reasons.

So names like “stuffed eggs” or “angel eggs” were given to this yummy side!

A Delicious Twist To Your Average Deviled Eggs

What an interesting twist to add chopped ham and shredded cheddar to a familiar recipe.

The familiar ingredients of a deviled egg are mayonnaise and mustard.

Adding a bit of dill relish, dill pickle juice or chopped dill pickles will also enhance the flavor.

Just by adding sliced ham and shredded cheese takes normal deviled eggs to the next level.

How To Hard Boil Eggs Using An Instant Pot

Maybe this is old news or maybe you haven’t heard of it yet, but using an Instant Pot to boil eggs is the best!

When you start making hard boiled eggs in your Instant Pot, you’ll never go back to stove top boiling.

You are always guaranteed a cooked egg…not overcooked…just perfectly cooked!

The Instant Pot rule for hard boiling eggs is the 5-5-5 method.

5 minutes cook time.  5 minutes to natural release.  5 minutes in ice water.

Don’t even bother with the natural pressure release.

Release the pressure right away (QPR-quick pressure release).

It works perfect and you’ll be amazed how awesome your hard boiled eggs turn out every time in your Instant Pot!

What If I Don’t Like Hard-boiled Eggs?

That’s ok.

Maybe you would enjoy an all-American style omelette!

This bacon cheeseburger omelette is filled with protein, and is sure to keep you full all morning.
