How Long Do I Cook Brown Rice In An Instant Pot?

That is an excellent question!

First of all, white rice is stripped of many nutrients, while brown rice is a whole grain and contains many good nutrients.

Brown rice has an outer layer called bran.

Bran is why brown rice is the color brown, and also the reason it needs to cook a bit longer than white rice.

So, to answer your question, brown rice takes about 20 minutes to cook in the Instant Pot, while white rice takes only about 6-8 minutes.

  1. Pour rice, chicken, water or broth, salt, and curry powder in your Instant Pot liner .
  2. Put lid on your Instant Pot and set to sealing, not venting.
  3. Set on manual for 20 minutes.
  4. When it is done, do a quick pressure release.
  5. Stir the peas in rice mixture and put lid back on for a few minutes to allow the peas to heat through.
  6. Serve in a pretty dish and enjoy!
