Chia seeds…you either love them or you despise them!  I happen to love the texture of chia seeds after they have absorbed liquid and turned into an almost gelatinous dish!

If you don’t already know about my own chia drink, you need to check it out right here: Powerhouse Chia Juice .   I love making my own because I know exactly what ingredients I’m putting in my body.

As you may also know, I travel alot with my family for our Bible college throughout the year.  I’ve talked about my traveling tips in another post if you want to read that as well…Traveling Tips for the Trim Healthy Mama

Now I don’t always buy the Mamma Chia products (cause it could get costly), but when I get a hankerin’ for some chia squeezes or chia drinks, I sometimes splurge when I’m on the road for weeks at a time.  They’re so yummy!  I will mention that for the trim healthy mama, they would be a personal choice…but come on, they are much better than eating a candy bar in my opinion.

The Mamma Chia company so generously sent me some of their products to test and review for you, my readers!  So that is what I’m going to do.

I just want to say that I love all of their colorful product packaging…As soon as I opened the box there was a *POP* of beautiful, bright colors that look so fun for adults and kids alike.

Mamma Chia Product Review

THE TEST:

Granola–Taste/Flavor/Texture: (Blueberry) first of all, it smelled amazing as soon as I opened the bag! Oh my!!  (of course I love blueberries too)  My first bite was actually very tasty and I found myself wanting more.  I haven’t tried them with anything (almond milk, yogurt, ice cream), but they are very delicious on their own!  I’m impressed!  Thanks again, Mamma Chia!  (Vanilla Almond) When I opened this bag, it didn’t have a very strong fragrance.  I can taste the vanilla/almond flavors, but they definitely have a much lighter taste than the blueberry.  These would be great to use as a neutral topping on yogurt or on their own if you preferred not alot of flavor.  They are good, but I think I’m partial to the blueberry…what can I say?!!  Both granola’s have a nice crunch and would make a great snack to put in a baggie and eat on the go!  I want to mention again that I’m doing a product review on this granola!  Even though I find it very tasty, I probably wouldn’t buy it too often if I’m expected to stay on the Trim Healthy Mama plan!!  There are alot of off-plan ingredients, but I’m glad I got to taste-test and share my thoughts on these great products.

Chia Squeeze–Taste/Flavor/Texture:  To be honest, I love all the flavors!  If I had to choose one that wasn’t on the very top of my “favorites” list, it would be the green magic flavor.  I would still definitely sip it, but it has a more “green/earthy” flavor, yet is still very yummy!!  I didn’t think I would care for cherry beet, but it’s actually very good!  I think they’re fun to sip…call me weird but I like the jello-like texture of the chia seeds.  For someone like me who travels, these are perfect for just tossing in my purse or travel bag!  Awesomeness!!

Black Chia Seeds—they really do not have a flavor, so they can be used in many different recipes and you wouldn’t taste them.  I love making chia drinks, chia puddings and just putting some in my smoothies for extra fiber/protein, etc.  They expand multiple times their size in water, meaning they keep me full longer…great for those who are trying to lose weight.

Would I recommend them?

Yes, yes and yes!!!  As I mentioned earlier, some of these products would be a personal choice or even “off-plan” for the trim healthy mama, but I can honestly say that Mamma Chia put out some amazingly healthy, tasty products.

These reviews and opinions are my own!  I have not been paid to do this review.  I do my best to give honest reviews on new products and food items for my readers!  I hope you enjoyed this product review…I’ll have more to come in the future, so stay tuned!
