Hot cocoa is best served on a cold evening with snow falling outside, kindling crackling in a fireplace, a good book and a cozy blanket. 

Ok, so you don’t have to have all those things to serve this hot beverage, but it definitely sounds appealing!

Winter Memories And Hot Cocoa

I have many memories of drinking hot cocoa growing up, but one particular memory stands out to me. 

I guess it wasn’t a “one time thing”, but became a tradition one year.  

When I was a young teen, my neighbor friend and I would walk her dog just about every evening. 

We lived in a small friendly town (which I still call home) and walked around “the block” every single day. 

She was fortunate to have her grandparents live so close by, so almost every time we were out walking in the winter time, we would stop in to visit with them. 

I still remember her grandpa sitting by a big glass window looking outside, watching the cars and people go up and down the little street they lived on.

We sat down at their dining room table in anticipation of the hot cocoa that was coming our way, made by her grandma. 

It was a highlight to drink a hot beverage in the middle of our very cold winter walk. 

We chatted, drank our hot cocoa, thanked her and went on our way home.

Those are special memories to me, and every time I drink hot cocoa, I think about those days that seem so long ago.

 

Can I Include Low Carb Sweetened Condensed Milk In This Rich & Creamy Hot Cocoa?

Yes!  I know many of you have made my Clean & Healthy Sweetened Condensed Milk already.

I’m hoping you have some in your fridge at this point because it is a yummy part of this amazing recipe!

You can definitely make a bigger batch and freeze it if you aren’t planning on using it for a while.

It’s just a good idea to have on hand, especially this time of year when candy and cookies are currently the “in thing”!!

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients in a saucepan over low heat.
  2. Stir until everything is well blended (I like using a whisk).
  3. Take off heat as it's coming to a simmer.
  4. Pour some in your favorite mug and top with whipped cream!
