No Time To Prepare Breakfast?

Who will be honest and admit that some mornings there is just no time to prepare a decent breakfast?  So instead we go to a convenient store and buy a “healthy” protein bar.  I’ve been there and maybe you have too, but that can change once you prepare these single serve wake up energy bars ahead of time!  They can be in your freezer and ready to grab at a moments notice!

Protein All The Way

I call them Wake Up Energy Bars for a reason…they have lots of protein and good fats to help sustain you in the morning, but can also be used as a nice protein snack in the mid-afternoon (you know what I’m talking about)…that time of day when you need more coffee or just want to take a nap.  Energy bars to the rescue!!!

Good Fats On The Go

In this single serve wake up energy bars recipe I feature a new (to me) product that I received a while back.  It’s called Omega Power Creamer.  Yes it’s technically a creamer for coffee, but I decided to be different.  I am using it in my energy bars for extra flavor and good fats that will keep me fueled up and satisfied all morning.  I love having a source of good fats readily available instead of getting several ingredients out just to make butter coffee (or bulletproof coffee).

How To Make Bulletproof Coffee

This is one way to make bulletproof coffee:  the ingredients consist of coffee, collagen, Kerrygold butter or Ghee if you’re dairy free, MCT oil or coconut oil, vanilla and sweetener.  With this convenient bottle of Omega Power Creamer, you simply pour 1 Tablespoon into your coffee and you’re finished!  It is rather tasty too.  I hope you will go to their facebook page and give them a like.  Also, go to their website and read about it .

Omega Power Creamer To The Rescue

The Power Creamer is the easiest way to add healthy, energy rich fats to your morning coffee. The MCT rich blend of fats gives you the instant and long lasting boost of energy you need to power your day.  Here are some benefits of using the Omega Power Creamer:

  • efficiently utilized by the body for energy production
  • high in Lauric, Caprylic, and Capric Acid
  • rapidly metabolized by the body
  • can support maintenance of lean body mass
  • excellent for a healthy, active lifestyle

Here is my affiliate link if you’d like to order Omega Power Creamer on Amazon.  There are four flavors:  original, vanilla, cacao, cinnamon.  (I make a few cents when you order through my link and it doesn’t cost you any extra)

Calorie Bondage

Though the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle does not want people to be in bondage to counting calories and such, it is still wise not to over-do it with high caloric foods. I say this because this whole recipe is rather high in calories, but it can be used as breakfast on the run…maybe not every day, but on those rush occasions when there’s just no time to prepare something.  To be honest, I’d much rather eat these homemade single serve wake up energy bars than buy one at the grocery store.  I know what ingredients are in these and how they make me feel afterwards.

Banana & PB For Breakfast?

Protein is a must in my meals and snacks…let’s talk about it!

I’ll use my wonderful husband as an example.  In the past few years he has noticed that he feels so much better when he has eaten protein.  He has an office job and years ago he used to have a banana and peanut butter for breakfast every single morning.

Well, he would start feeling hungry and tired mid-morning sitting at his desk.  It was as if the next meal couldn’t come soon enough…he was super hungry and low on energy!

I found a recipe for granola and have made it every other week for the past several years.  He tells me all the time that it sustains him through the morning and he feels so much more energetic.  I have a low carb version granola here if you’d like to take a look at it.

Pre-Workout Fuel, Breakfast or Afternoon Snack

When I first created this recipe, I thought it would be a great pre-workout snack.  I guess it could be a meal with all the calories, protein and healthy fats…ha!  So depending on your body and schedule, you can eat these energy bars as a pre-workout snack or as a quick meal on your way out to work.
