You’ll never believe that this delightfully seasoned turkey breakfast sausage is a Fuel Pull!
Turkey Breakfast Sausage
Usually, the perfect, all-American breakfast contains eggs, sausage or bacon, some sort of potato hash browns and toast.
Well, I officially have you covered with the sausage part of your breakfast!!
Why do I love ground turkey? To put it simply, it’s because turkey is a lean source of protein and can be used in any fuel category.
Give Me Some Protein
What I love most about this breakfast sausage is the amount of protein in just one patty.
There’s a reason I add egg whites! Consequently, it bumps up the protein without changing the flavor or texture of the turkey sausage patties.
Egg Whites Is The Secret
I’ve looked at many breakfast sausage recipes and I don’t usually see egg whites added to the mix.
For instance, the average breakfast sausage recipe ingredients are basically meat and spices.
I think this is an incredible secret that’s been hidden from us! (or atleast me)
Protein is a very crucial part of my meal. Therefore, if I can get more protein by adding egg whites to my turkey breakfast sausage recipe, I’m doing it!
Because egg whites are a great source of protein, they are a weight loss friendly food! Read more about it here.
Maple Flavor And Sweetness
Everyone loves a well-seasoned sausage patty.
I added a touch of maple extract and a tad bit of sweetener. As a result, these patties became so much more flavorful!
In this case I used THM Super Sweet.
Two pounds of ground turkey were used for this recipe. In other words, I thought the amounts I used of each were perfect for me!
I enjoy these maple flavored turkey breakfast sausages so much!
Hubby Approved
My husband is always looking for a hearty, protein-filled meal.
I’ve been adding three of my turkey breakfast sausage patties to his plate most mornings. Yes, 3 patties!!
That may sound like a lot, but he is a man, and he has a good metabolism!
I am so proud of him because he’s been on a roll with weight loss recently.
He’s not “overweight” by any means, but he wanted to shed a few pounds and feel great this year!
So, by having a good amount of protein in his first meal of the day, he’s good to go for hours!
Why Our Bodies Need Protein
Protein comes from the Greek word proteos, meaning “primary” or “first place”.
The Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle has explained very clearly that protein should always be the center focus of every meal and snack!
When I don’t eat enough protein, I usually feel hungry in a short time.
Your body needs protein for many different things, but especially for growth and tissue maintenance.
Protein is essential to build muscle mass.
Now don’t be scared…you won’t get big and bulky by eating the average amount of protein every day.
However, protein supports brain function, brain growth and it improves concentration, especially in young people.
Is This Turkey Breakfast Sausage Really A Fuel Pull?
You bet it is! I could hardly believe it myself. One sausage patty is under 5 grams of fat and has 11 grams of protein.
Many of you probably don’t count calories, but I thought you’d also be interested to know that just one sausage patty has 87 calories. That’s pretty amazing if you ask me!
You could literally have one breakfast patty in a Fuel Pull or E meal.
If you are having an S, then have 2 or 3 in your meal. Honestly, two sausage patties fill me up very well.
(Speaking of an S breakfast, you may want to make this bacon cheeseburger omelette along side a couple of sausage patties!)
